Our story
How it Started?
In 2017, the family of Pastor Serhii Chudiuk, together with relatives, arrived in Omaha, NE and saw that there was no Slavic or Ukrainian church where people could hear the Gospel in a language they clearly understood, receive support, and grow in their faith. We hardly knew anyone, so at first we started a small home group for our relatives to study the Bible and pray together. We also prayed that God would bring people who could come to know Christ.
Over time, people began to attend, during these home gatherings, God began changing people’s hearts. In the first year, nine people repented and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior.
But soon it became clear that many new believers found it difficult to attend American churches because of the language barrier. Translation was often hard to follow, especially for those who were just beginning their journey of faith. Then, in 2018, with faith, we made the decision to start a church in order to serve these people and help them grow in Christ in a language they could clearly understand. Westside Church supported us in this decision and graciously provided space for us to begin holding Sunday services. For many years, we gathered there.
From the very beginning, God began blessing this ministry. More and more new people and families started coming to the church, and different ministries began to grow, including children’s, youth, women’s, and men’s ministries. Over time, a church camp and other events for family support and spiritual growth were also established.
Today, our church is a large family where people can find love, support, and hope, and most importantly, come to know Jesus Christ, receive salvation, hope, and eternal life with Him.
We continue to pray and labor so that more people may hear the Gospel and experience God’s love in their lives.
